‘John Wick 2’ Synopsis Teases with an Assassin Showdown in Rome

‘John Wick 2’ Synopsis Teases an Assassin Showdown in Rome
Next year, a beloved assassin returns to the big screen with the highly-anticipated sequel John Wick: Chapter 2, which was given a February 10, 2017 release date last month. Production recently wrapped, and it isn't known when we'll get our first official look at the sequel, either with new photos or the first trailer. While wait to get our first glimpse at Keanu Reeves' title character in action once again, Collider uncovered the official synopsis, which you can check out below.
"Keanu Reeves returns in the sequel to the 2014 hit as legendary hitman John Wick who is forced to back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins' guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world's deadliest killers."
Original John Wick stars Ian McShane (Winston), John Leguizamo (Aurelio), Bridget Moynahan (Helen), Thomas Sadoski (Jimmy) and Lance Reddick (Charon) have returned to reprise their roles. New cast members include Common, Ruby Rose, Riccardo Scamarcio and Peter Stormare. Common is reportedly playing the primary villain, the head of security for a female crime lord, but no details have been given for any of the other new cast members.

Chad Stahelski, who directed the original John Wick with David Leitch, is returning to take the helm on John Wick 2, although he will be directing solo. Both filmmakers had planned to tackle the sequel together, but they decided to split up for the time being, with Chad Stahelski taking on the sequel and David Leitch directing The Coldest City, which has Charlize Theron set to star. John Wick writer Derek Kolstad returned to write the script.

John Wick: Chapter 2 will have plenty of competition on February 10, 2017, going up against two high-profile projects. Also opening on that day is Universal's steamy sequel Fifty Shades Darker, which started production in February, and Warner Bros.' The Lego Movie spinoff The LEGO Batman Movie. 20th Century Fox's drama The Mountain Between Us, starring Charlie Hunnam and Margot Robbie, was originally set to hit theaters on February 10, 2017, but it was recently taken out of that date.
