Manchester City head to the semi finals for the first time in the Champions League as Real Madrid overturn a 2-0 defeat at Bernabeu.

Manchester city have Kevin De Bruyne to thank for his superb late strike sealed Manchester City's place in their first Champions League semi-final with a 3-2 aggregate win over Paris Saint-Germain.

City were heading for victory on away goals by virtue of their 2-2 draw at the Parc des Princes last week, but De Bruyne settled the nerves and sparked wild celebrations at the Etihad Stadium when he curled a brilliant low effort beyond Kevin Trapp with 14 minutes remaining on Tuesday to make the difference against the French champions and send his side into the semi-finals.

While a brilliant hat-trick from Christiano Ronaldo saved Real Madrid's Champions League campaign, as the Spaniards battled back to down Wolfsburg 3-0 and progress to the semi-finals.

The Portuguese striker levelled the game in the first half with a close-range finish and a header, and later ended the Germans' hopes by squeezing a free-kick through the wall.

Real Madrid were on the edge of an exit after a 2 - 0 first leg defeat at the Volkswagen Arena against Wolfsburg. But hope was revived after two first half goals from former Manchester United Player; Christiano Ronaldo was scored to level the game with their opponents and a late free kick goal was enough to seal the qualification of Real Madrid into the semi finals of the UEFA Champions league.

Manchester City and Real Madrid will be joined by winners between Benfica vs Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona tonight to decide the final candidates for the semi final draw which is going to be held at Nyon on Friday.
