Man Utd v Bournemouth rearranged for Tuesday

Man Utd v Bournemouth rearranged for Tuesday
Sunday's fixture was abandoned due to the discovery of a suspicious package and the Red Devils have now confirmed that the match will go ahead later this week

Manchester United's postponed match against Bournemouth has been rearranged for Tuesday evening.
The fixture, originally scheduled for Sunday, was abandoned due to the discovery of a suspicious package which was later confirmed by Greater Manchester Police to be a hoax.

Old Trafford was fully evacuated shortly after 3pm after a steward had discovered the item in the north-west section of the ground, with a bomb disposal unit called.

Goal understands that the package, which was found in the toilets of an executive suite, looked similar to a pipe bomb.

"We would like to thank Manchester United's staff, the police and other emergency services for all their efforts today as well as rearranging the match for this coming Tuesday," a Premier League statement reads.

"Both Manchester ‎United and AFC Bournemouth's management has been extremely helpful in reaching a swift resolution, which is the best possible given today's events."

The rescheduled match will kick off at 8pm local time, with United's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League all but over after Manchester City's draw at Swansea City on Sunday.

United need to produce an 18-goal swing to overtake their rivals but can retake fifth place from Southampton by avoiding defeat.
