Zamalek at the Petro Sport Stadium in Cairo on
Monday.

Bassem Morsy's second half strike from the
spot handed Mohammed Helmy's side the
maximum points to advance at the expense of
the toothless People's Elephants.

The visitors were rock solid defensively
as keeper Theophilus Afelokhai showed class in
helping Enyimba hold their own in the opening
15 minutes against the pouring attack of
Zamalek.

In the 18th minute, Ifeanyi Onuigbo got a real
scoring chance, but his header was turned out
for a corner by hosts' keeper Ahmed El-
Shennawi.

Mostafa Fathi came close for the hosts five
minutes from the break, but his effort was
blocked by Emma Anyanwu to keep the scoreline
goalless at half time.

In the second half, Enyimba conceded a
disappointing penalty after defender Chinedu
Udoji handled Ayman Hefny’s shot.
Morsy wasted no chance beating keeper
Afelokhai from the spot to put the hosts in
front in the 63rd minute.

Five minutes later, Abdullah Fathi outran his
markers but failed to make his brilliant effort
count for the Egyptians as he fired wide from
close range.

The Elephants kept hopes alive for a comeback
with Chima Akas fired a long range shot on
target, but was denied by the cross bar in the
74th minute.
