SCHWEINSTEIGER NOT INCLUDED IN MAN UTD'S EUROPA LEAGUE SQUAD

Bastian Schweinsteiger’s exile at Manchester United is set to continue after the midfielder was left out of the club's Europa League squad.

The former Germany international, 32, is a notable omission from Jose Mourinho’s panel of players eligible to participate in this season’s competition, while youngsters Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Axel Tuanzebe have been included.

United have been drawn in Group A alongside Feyenoord, Zorya and Fenerbahce.

Schweinsteiger is yet to feature for the club since Mourinho was appointed although he has been named in United's 25-man Premier League squad.

The ex-Bayern Munich man discussed his future while making his last appearance for Germany, saying that he would consider a move to MLS in the future but he has no problem with Mourinho and still dreams of playing for United.

He said: "I have no personal problems with Jose Mourinho. I still believe in my own ability. I could still help United if given the chance.

"I have to wait and see now how it goes in September and October and how it develops. One thing is for sure, I'm not going to stop playing football.

“The MLS transfer window is closed, so it won't happen this season. But of course, the US is an option."

United start their Europa League campaign away to Feyenoord on 15 September.
