Chris Pine Addresses Popular ‘Wonder Woman’ Rumor

Today, in an exclusive interview with The Huffington Post, actor Chris Pine addresses one of the biggest rumors surrounding the highly anticipated Wonder Woman film. Many fans were left scratching their heads as to Pine’s involvement in the film and the DCEU as a whole, seeing as his character is mortal, and Wonder Woman takes place during three separate time periods, including World War I. The rumor for the longest time was that Pine would be playing not only Steve Trevor, but also that same character’s grandfather. When asked about if there was any validity to this rumor, Pine shot it down rather quickly by strictly stating, “No”. So it looks like we’ll only be seeing one Trevor for now.

The Huffington Post also went on to ask him about some additional details about the superhero project. When asked, “What are you most excited to do with your character in “Wonder Woman”? What should fans expect”, Pine answered:

“It was fun to fall in love with Gal Gadot. It was fun to do some comedy. It was fun to do some action. The part kind of asked for a little bit of all of it, so it was a good time.

I think what’s really fun and exciting about it … different about it, actually, is that there’s a nice love story at the center of an action film, and I don’t think you see that often in these kinds of films.”

So it looks like we’re in for a really well rounded movie, tonally at least. All this talk of “fun” and “comedy” are fresh and unique additions to the already flourishing DCEU, and I for one think Wonder Woman‘s first cinematic outing is the perfect place for these individual flavors to be added. I am genuinely hopeful for the future of the DCEU, and its tonal change-up, but i hope the seriousness with which these individual filmmakers embrace the material remains the same. And with a seasoned veteran like Geoff Johns at the helm, I think we’ll achieve the best of both worlds.
